Insights from the contributers

“ASA is a girls-only, Advanced Level school for science and maths, which opened in August 2016 in Tema, Ghana. Funded by the African Gifted Foundation, a UK-registered charity founded in 2010, it is a pre-university boarding school for young women with outstanding potential in science and maths.”

Tom Ilube CBE

“It’s important that you leave enough time to visit the schools. Try and do this at least two terms ahead of when you are due to start. Like other highly sought-after schools around the world, the leading schools in Ghana fill up quickly and often have waiting lists, so it’s important to put your child’s name down as early as possible.”

Emma Lee-Potter

“The growth in the international school sector means families who want their children to take globally recognised qualifications in Ghana have plenty of choice. There is a strong mix of British, American and European based schools who are likely to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the International GCSE (IGCSE). Ghanaian state schools offer the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).”
